FAQ

What is a car wrap?

A car wrap is a decal or large vinyl graphic applied on the surface of a vehicle. It is used to change the way a vehicle looks on a temporary basis, as the wrap may be removed if necessary, without altering the car’s original paintwork.

How long will the wrap stay on my vehicle?

Normally, you can expect a wrap to last between 3-7 years. The life of your wrap depends on many factors, which include (but not limited to) weather, how it is maintained and how a vehicle is stored.

Can I choose to wrap just a part of my car?

Of course! If you want to add racing stripes or have a chrome hood, our partial wraps service is just for you. Anything less than a full car wrap is considered a partial wrap.

How much will it cost to have my vehicle wrapped?

The cost of wrapping a vehicle would depend on a number of factors, such as the size of the wrap and the type of vinyl used. Please contact us for a quote

How will I know if the wrap will fit my car?

Part of our process is getting accurate measurements of your car so that the wrap will fit and be aligned with your car’s body type perfectly

Will the wrap damage my vehicle’s paint?

Not at all. The car wrap will even protect your OEM paint. However, if the paintwork is not in good condition to begin with, for instance, if paint is chipping off, then the wrap may pull off the chipping paint when it is removed.

How long does the installation process take?

Vehicle wrap application is usually done in 7-10 days, depending on the vehicle type, size, and the complexity of the wrap. We’ll let you know when to expect the job done before we begin the installation.

Should I wash my car before turning it over to you?

Yes please. It is important that all vehicles for wrapping are free of oil, wax, dust, mud, and other agents that may prevent the vinyl wrap from adhering properly to the vehicle surface, scratch the paint, or cause bubbling after the wrap is installed.

Can I park my car outside for long periods?

Excessive amounts of time under the sun or other outdoor elements (rain, smog, debris, and road pollutants from passing cars) can degrade the wrap on the roof, trunk lid and hood. These horizontal areas are a magnet for pollutants, which are intensified by UV ray exposure. Try your best to park your car in a garage or under a canopy or shelter. If you must park it outside for prolonged periods, look for shady parking areas.

My car is turning brown or rust colored, what should I do?

Wrap turns brown due to prolonged exposure to acid from pollutants in the air. This is typically a result of neglect and failure to follow the above-mentioned procedures. If you notice brown, discolored, or rust-colored areas on your wrap, it is best to remove the film from your vehicle to prevent damage to the paint beneath it and reapply fresh wrap. Often times it is only necessary to replace the affected panel.

OUR POLICIES

Installation of wraps:  Vinyl wrap always has the potential to contain small wrinkles, bubbles and/or minor imperfections after installation. Vinyl wrap IS NOT paint. If you expect a perfect vinyl wrap that is flawless, then a paint job may be your best option. This is not a service that Supra Motive offers. We will always do our best to ensure your vehicle looks as good as possible upon completion. If you experience any problems with your wrap, you must contact us immediately in order for us to properly remedy the situation. Letting the problem go untreated may create an unfixable situation. Wrap is applied by hand, using a felt-edged squeegee designed specifically for vinyl wrap installation. Even with this preventative measure, it is still possible to end up with small scratches in the laminate of the final product. These fine scratches do not affect the film or warranty. Manufacturer Warranties are different from Supra Motive warranties. Most manufacturer warranties are 2-5 years (brand dependent) and differ depending on which body panel they are applied to. Bumpers, mirrors, wheels and other compound areas are not covered under manufacturer warranty. If the vinyl applied to your vehicle by Supra Motive fails within the first year (i.e. lifting wrap), the failure is covered under Supra Motive warranty. Damage caused by normal road wear and tear as well as environmental conditions are not covered under Supra Motive warranty.   Manufacturer warranties do not equate to vinyl lifespan. Vinyl, with proper care, lasts much longer than the timespan of the manufacturer warranty.

Please understand that normal wear and tear such as small rock chips, door dings, scratches, rust and any interruptions in the paint of the vehicle will determine the finish of the wrap. Please understand that the age of your vehicle’s paint may determine the finish of the wrap. If your vehicle has had any aftermarket body repair, including but not limited to, dent removal, body filler, painting and/or clear coat repair, all warranties and guarantees of the Supra Motive one year guarantee are VOID. Please be aware that Supra Motive takes no responsibility for damage that may occur during the installation process on vehicles with aftermarket body repair and/or painting.

Liability: Supra Motive makes every effort to ensure the protection and safety of your vehicle while in our possession. Whenever possible, your vehicle will be kept inside our facility during overnight stays. To deter theft, we keep all client vehicles locked at all times. Please be sure to remove all valuable and personal items from your vehicle. Supra Motive will not be held responsible for missing items. Additionally, Supra Motive will not be responsible for theft, vandalism, or acts of weather that may cause direct or indirect damage to your vehicle.

WRAP CARE

GLOSS

Removing fingerprints - Saturate a clean, lint-free towel with a 2:1 mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and water or 70% IPA, and then wipe and dry the film.

Removing stains - Try a household cleaner, such as Simple Green®, and a lint-free cloth, followed by the technique used for Removing fingerprints

Removing scratches - Many surface scratches will disappear when exposed to the sunlight on warm days. Otherwise, surface scratches may be removed by: using a 2:1 mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and water or 70% IPA or by heating the film surface with a heat gun. Typically, do not exceed 225 °F (107 °C). Deeper scratches will not come out. Always use care to avoid scratches during installation, maintenance, use and storage of the wrapped vehicle.

Refreshing the appearance - Before using any of these procedures, test and approve in an inconspicuous area before using on the entire wrap. Film or Finish Type Product or Solution Smooth Gloss Texture 3M™ Perfect-it™ Show Car Paste Wax 39526 Meguiar’s Gold Class™ Carnuaba Plus Premium Liquid Wax Matte or Satin Texture 2:1 mixture Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and water

Contamination - Based on type/degree of contamination, use one or more of these solutions, in the order shown, to remove any build-up. 1. Hot, soapy water solution 2. 2:1 mixture IPA and water  3. Simple Green® All-Purpose Cleaner  4. Household chlorine bleach followed by the 2:1 mixture IPA and water  5. Mineral spirits followed by the 2:1 mixture IPA and water

Difficult Contaminants - Soften difficult contaminants such as bug splatter, bird droppings, tree sap and similar contaminants by soaking them for several minutes with very hot, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. If further cleaning is needed, test one of these products in an inconspicuous area to ensure no damage to the graphics: Meguiar’s Gold Class™ Bug and Tar Remover or 3M™ Citrus Base Cleaner. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) (two parts IPA to 1 part water) or denatured alcohol may also help. Spot clean the contaminants. Do not use rough scrubbing or abrasive tools, which will scratch the film. Wash and rinse off all residue immediately. Fuel Spills Wipe off immediately to avoid degrading the vinyl and adhesive. Then wash, rinse and dry as in "Wash Regularly"

DO NOT

  • Do not apply carnauba-based wax over vinyl graphics

  • Do not wash with a mechanical brush, Brushes can cause vinyl graphics to chip or peel around the edges and scratch the surface. They can also cause the graphic to fade, and dull the appearance of the over laminate

  • In the event that you experience lifting or peeling of your wrap, please contact us immediately for a complimentary “touch-up” to protect the lifespan of your wrap

PRESSURE WASHING

  • Pressure washing should only be used when all other cleaning methods have been exhausted.

  • Pressure washing can cause the vinyl graphics to lift around the edges and peel away from the vehicle

  • Over time, pressure washing can degrade your vehicle wrap causing the graphic to lose its color and cause it to fade, crack and even chip away from the surface of your vehicle

SATIN OR MATTE – requires different care than gloss

NEVER use automotive cleaning products that contain wax and other compounds used to protect paint. Waxing a matte or satin finish will ruin the look of your wrap. Quick detailer sprays are not recommended as they can harm the finish of the wrap.

Grease, fingerprints, hard-to-remove contaminants - Saturate a clean, lint-free towel with a 2:1 mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and water or 70% IPA, and then wipe and dry the film.

Automatic car washes - Never put your vehicle through an automatic car wash as they use waxing agents in their soaps. Pressure from water jets and hot air can cause vinyl to lift.

Fuel spills - Quickly wipe it off. You can use the free windshield squeegee if you don’t have anything with you to wipe off fuel.

Bugs and droppings - Don’t let bugs or droppings sit on your wrap too long as they contain ammonia and other contaminants that don’t react well with vinyl. Saturate a clean, lint-free towel with a 2:1 mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and water or 70% IPA, and then wipe and dry the film.

ALL FINISHES

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WASH MY VEHICLE WRAP?

Wash your wrap once a week or more often if your vehicle is exposed to a lot of dirt or pollutants. You should hand wash always. Suggested soaps and detailers ONLY FOR GLOSS 3M® Car Wash Soap 39000, Meguiar’s NXT Generation® Car Wash, Deep Crystal® Car Wash, 3M Quick Detailer Spray Wax or Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Wax. You can use another gentle automotive detergent if necessary

CAN I TAKE MY WRAPPED VEHICLE INTO A DRIVE-THROUGH CAR WASH?

You can bring your wrapped vehicle to an automated brushless car wash, though hand washing is safer and more thorough. Brush car washes may be too rough on the film, degrading it and causing peeling and lifted edges. If a car wash uses water spray and no brushes, it should be safe for most wraps.

WHAT SHOULD I USE FOR SPOT CLEANING?

Use Simple Green or isopropyl rubbing alcohol to spot clean isolated stains. Rinse area with cool water after cleaning. Don’t use tire dressing to spot clean as it may splash on the wrap and cause stains. Avoid wiping the wrap when it’s hot; this can distort the material and cause wrinkling.

WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD I AVOID WHEN CLEANING MY WRAP?

Never, EVER use any of the following cleaning products on your wrap

  • Solvents

  • Oil-based cleaners

  • Kitchen & Bathroom Cleaners

  • Oven cleaner

  • Orange Oil

  • Engine Degreaser
